Krishnan Nair and the leadership of Dr. C. K. Velayuthan Nair and Dr. Rema V. Nair, we embraced a mission that remains timeless and profound: providing quality care for every life, irrespective of background. What began as Velayudhan Pillai Memorial Hospital has flourished under the Padanilam Welfare Trust, transforming into Sree Mookambika Institutions — an institution that today touches thousands of lives through healthcare, medical education, and holistic healing. Beyond Healthcare – The SMIMS Journey of Excellence
The Padanilam Welfare Trust was formed in 1992 to promote social vision focussed healthcare services for the marginalised communities and tribals, the welfare of the minority Malayalam speaking community in the region, and to provide quality Medical Education to rural students. The culmination of the determined efforts of the trust in the field of higher medical education has borne fruit in the form of 5 educational institutions, the result of its sincere desire and determination.

Sree Mookambika Institute, set in the backdrop of the beautiful Western Ghats, was founded under the auspices of the socially conscious Padanilam Welfare Trust which has considered it a duty to provide cost effective health care for all, free healthcare for the needy, and quality medical education to students. Since its inception the Institute has been growing in stature and is now considered a Teaching Institute par excellence.
